Christmas Traditions at Oliver C. Joseph

At Oliver C. Joseph we know that Christmas is a time of mixed emotions for many people. This year we are highlighting our culture and history with Christmas Traditions.

The Gateway Garden RailRoad Club’s traveling train layout is operating now through the end of the month. You can stop by anytime we are open to see the display (Monday-Friday 8-8, Saturday 8-5.) On Saturdays we will also have the Train Car open for tours upon request. We’ve made many additions to the collections out on the train platform. Also on the platform, you will see the large painting we commissioned of Oliver Dee.

We would like to thank those who have extended their well wishes and sympathies to the Family here at OCJ. Yes, it is a hard time of year for us; but your support has helped us through hard times. We all miss Dee, and we still love to hear your stories and memories about him.

As Christmas traditions change over the years, we would love to hear how you’ve kept some of the old ones and started new traditions of your own. At OCJ we have many traditions. This year we had to skip the Christmas open house party. We are very sorry we are not able to provide you with our great tradition this year. It saddens all of us here to not be hosting the great event this year. You are always welcome to stop by for a warm drink and a seat by the fireplace. There's always a great conversation to be had, history to be learned, and you never know who you’ll see here!

However, we do have an exclusive offer from Oliver C. Joseph this year, with the purchase of a new minivan in the month of December you will receive a Genuine Lionel Train Set at no additional charge. These steel sets are heirloom quality beauties. You can start your own Christmas Traditions with a train under your tree!

Trains have always been a big tradition here at OCJ, and so has our customer service. With over 50 employees, and as we enjoy our 97th year of business, we still know our greatest family members are YOU! If you are just joining the Oliver C. Joseph family, WELCOME! If you have yet to join the OCJ family; what are you waiting for?

We have made great additions and improvements this year to the OCJ Family. We have added a few new staff members, some not so new members have joined us again, and we have also moved around some of the friendly faces you have come to know and love. If you don’t see your favorite smiling face, just ask and we can let you know where to find them!

We are looking at growing even bigger in 2012…we are listening to what you have to say…and are making changes accordingly. If you have a suggestion you can always e-mail our Internet Manager, Kelly, or stop by to see Brad.

We are also asking you, our OCJ family members, to go onto google places or your favorite review site and just leave a short note about your experiences with Oliver C. Joseph. As the internet becomes more a part of our daily lives, word of mouth is now online reputation. We always love to hear your kind words and stories, like the letters and cards on the tackboard. Would you mind sharing them with others too?

It is sometimes hard to describe the feeling of Family here at Oliver C. Joseph. No, you won’t find many suits here; but you will always find a warm smile and good hand shake. We strive to make each and every customer feel at home. Whether if your car is in need of repair or you are looking at a different one; we understand anything regarding a car can be stressful. That’s why we’re here. Let us take the stress off of you!

We will continue to be here to help you with all of your vehicle needs and to provide the community with great events. With 97 years of tradition, this Family owned and operated store continues to give back to the community. We are taking applications now for our fundraising events for 2012; so stop by today to fill out your application. If you are interested in OCJ’s upcoming events you can always find out more on our events page

We know Traditions come and go, changing over time…we just wanted to take a few minutes to thank you this Holiday Season for making OCJ part of your Christmas Traditions!

Korolev-Demitra 38 Trubute by the Blues

On Nov. 8, 2011 the St. Louis Blues NHL Hockey Club held a pre-game tribute to Igor Korolev and Pavol Demitra (who both wore #38 when playing for the team). They were killed in the tragic crash on Sept. 7th, 2011 that claimed the lives of all of the Members of the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl team from the Kontinental Hockey League in Russia.

The Chicago Blackhawks, who also paid tribute to their lost Alum earlier this year, were the Blues opposition of the evening. But setting aside the deep-rooted rivalry, the Hawks coach (past coach of the Blues) Joel Quenneville appeared on the ice wearing one of the special Bluenote sweaters for the evening.

The Blues players also wore a 38 patch on their sweaters; the game worn Jerseys are being auctioned off to support the Demitra-Korolev fund.

This video was taken by Oliver C. Joseph Internet Manager Kelly Wilson on her iPhone. This video brought to you by Oliver C.Joseph, official sponsor of the St. Louis Blues.

As a personal side note: Oliver Curtis, the Fourth Generation Joseph, and his Bride Liliya, left for Russia days after the crash to visit her home-land and family. They are currently still in Russia and actively engaged in another Blues and OCJ activity, helping stray animals find homes and opening a Stray Rescue in Kaliningrad.
